Carl Hardeman, a Master Gardner from Shelby County, had a dream of forming a farmer market in southeast Shelby County. For over five years Carl gathered support and researched ways to form a farmers market in Collierville.
Finally, in 2009, after many roadblocks and frustrating delays, approval was granted to allow farmers to apply for permits to sell produce and to allow a farmers market to meet on a city parking area near Town Square in Collierville.
On July 2, 2009, Carl's dream came to fruition with the first 'sale day' of the East Shelby County Farmer's Market.
Thank you, Carl, for all your efforts to make your dream of a local farmers' market come true!
